Your Critical Role as a Global UNDP PSEAH Programme Advisor

As the UNDP PSEAH Programme Advisor, you’ll become a pivotal member of the PSEAH team, situated squarely within the Executive Office of the Administrator. Reporting to the Special Advisor on Corporate Initiatives, you will directly lead the implementation of the UNDP Strategy and Action Plan on PSEAH. This critical Programme Advisor role involves key responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership for Safeguarding: You will spearhead the design, development, and continuous improvement of organizational policies and guidelines for PSEAH. Ultimately, your efforts will ensure the seamless integration of best practices across all corporate and programmatic activities. This is a core function of a UNDP PSEAH Programme Advisor.
  • Policy Implementation: You will drive the effective implementation of UNDP’s PSEAH Strategy and Action Plan. Moreover, you will actively enforce the policy on Harassment, Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, and Abuse of Authority across the organization, demonstrating our commitment as a PSEAH Programme Advisor.
  • Awareness & Capacity Building: You will lead initiatives to raise awareness, design and deliver compelling training sessions, and further build the capacity of personnel and partners on UNDP’s PSEAH standards globally. This work is central to the role of a Programme Advisor for PSEAH, ensuring our preventative measures are robust.
  • Monitoring & Reporting for PSEAH Initiatives: You will oversee the design and analysis of critical PSEAH surveys. Furthermore, you will track performance, actively mitigate risks, and lead on drafting comprehensive reports for various stakeholders, including the Executive Board. Your expertise as a PSEAH Programme Advisor will be vital here, informing crucial decisions about our safeguarding approach.
  • Inter-agency Collaboration: You will represent UNDP in crucial inter-agency working groups. Additionally, you will foster strong internal and external networks to strengthen PSEAH implementation. This aspect is vital for a UNDP PSEAH Programme Advisor working in a global context.
  • Case Coordination: You will serve as the primary contact for managing all sexual misconduct cases. You will collaborate closely with the Office of Audit and Investigation, Legal, Ethics, and Human Resources, consistently ensuring a victim/survivor-centered approach.
  • Team Management: You will directly supervise the P4 Victim Support Officer and a team of consultants, guiding them in their critical work.

What We Look For in a Strong UNDP PSEAH Programme Advisor Candidate

  • Education: We require an Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Gender Studies, Humanitarian Affairs, Human Rights, International Law, Sociology, or other relevant Social Sciences. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with an additional 2 years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience:
    • You must possess a minimum of 10 years (with Master’s degree) or 12 years (with Bachelor’s degree) of professional experience in designing, implementing, and managing policies and programs related to PSEAH, Gender-Based Violence, or other safeguarding initiatives. We strongly prefer experience gained with the UN or an international NGO. This background directly supports your success as a PSEAH Programme Advisor.
    • Crucially, you must demonstrate proven experience in designing and delivering learning strategies, capacity-building programs, and training sessions on PSEAH.
    • Similarly, familiarity with PSEA and SH inter-agency mechanisms is also required.
    • Furthermore, you must have at least 3 years of experience working in developing country settings, including crisis contexts.
    • Strong coordination, facilitation, networking, and advocacy skills are highly desired for any Programme Advisor in this field.
    • Likewise, we also desire demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and foster diverse perspectives.
    • Experience in monitoring and evaluation and risk management methodologies is a definite plus.
    • Finally, excellent drafting skills are crucial for this role.
  • Language: Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory. Working knowledge of another UN language is considered a valuable asset.
