Key Responsibilities
The tasks for this role are diverse. For instance, you will:
- Advise on nonprofit compliance under federal and state laws.
- Draft, negotiate, and review essential legal documents.
- Evaluate organizational risk and propose mitigation strategies.
- Work with external counsel globally.
- Provide guidance on international regulatory issues.
- Advise on employment and labor matters.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and international privacy laws.

Qualifications for remote Legal Jobs
- Education & Certification: To begin with, you must have a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Similarly, you need an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Experience: In other words, we require at least 6 years of legal practice in nonprofit law. This can be with a law firm or as in-house counsel. Experience advising on compliance and international legal frameworks is also required.
- Preferred: Furthermore, we prefer candidates with experience in legal risk management and nonprofit governance. A background in environmental or climate-related organizations is also a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: The salary for this remote legal job is $165,000–$175,000 annually in the Bay Area and NYC. On the other hand, it is $155,000–$165,000 for other U.S. locations.
