Your Role as a Remote Program Specialist: Key Responsibilities

 

As a Remote Program Specialist, you will take on these key responsibilities:

  • Lead Community Operations: You will oversee the daily functions of the Food Systems Community, ensuring smooth operations, high-quality virtual learning events, and a continuously improving user experience on our Digital Collaborative Knowledge Platform.
  • Establish Knowledge Management Services: You will develop and refine mechanisms for knowledge sharing, coordination, and monitoring across multi-country programs.
  • Coordinate Capacity Development: Moreover, you will organize and facilitate impactful capacity-building workshops and learning events, actively capturing and disseminating valuable lessons learned.
  • Drive Dissemination: Additionally, you will develop and implement strategies to promote the community, including social media engagement, event participation, and donor proposals.

Are You the Ideal Candidate for This Remote Program Role?

 

We’re looking for a program specialist who demonstrates:

  • Proven Experience: You should have a minimum of 5 years (with a Master’s degree) or 7 years (with a Bachelor’s degree) working with food and agricultural commodities.
  • Knowledge Management Expertise: Professional experience in a dedicated knowledge management function is required.
  • Event Coordination Skills: You must possess a proven track record of organizing successful virtual and in-person capacity development and learning events.
  • Community Facilitation (Desired): Experience curating content and facilitating knowledge exchange within online or digital community platforms is a plus.
  • Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Economics, Science, Humanities, Arts, Social/Political Sciences, Administration, ICT, Agriculture, Environment, or related fields is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree with an additional two years of experience will also be considered.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in both oral and written English is essential. Fluency in French or Spanish is also required. Additional UN languages are an advantage.
  • Soft Skills: You will need strong project management, communication, relationship management, risk management, and monitoring & evaluation abilities. Ultimately, you’ll be adaptable, innovative, and results-oriented.
