Are you a passionate, experienced professional ready to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment? UN Women, dedicated to the vision of equality in the UN Charter, seeks a highly skilled Gender Equality Consultant for our Regional Office for Arab States (ROAS) team. This is a unique chance to help eliminate discrimination, empower women, and foster equality in 17 countries across the region.
Your Impact as a Gender Equality Consultant in Arab States
As a Gender Equality Consultant, you’ll report directly to the Regional Coordination Specialist. Simultaneously, you’ll work closely with colleagues across ROAS and Country Offices, as well as headquarters. Consequently, your contributions will be vital for implementing our Strategic Note/Biannual Work Plan, internal reporting, and crucial donor reports. This means you’ll play a key role in promoting gender equity throughout the region as a dedicated consultant on gender equality.
Without a doubt, this role is essential. It tracks and measures the impact of UN Women’s coordination mandate at both country and regional levels. Furthermore, you’ll assess our private sector engagement on ESG priorities. Looking ahead, you’ll also help develop our new Strategic Note for 2026-2029, including its comprehensive results framework and indicators for gender equality. We are looking for an impactful Gender Equality Consultant.
Key Responsibilities for a Gender Equality Consultant
In this dynamic role, you’ll tackle several impactful tasks as a Gender Equality Consultant:
- Lead In-Depth Research: You’ll conduct bespoke research using tools like Stata, R, SPSS, and Atlas.ti. This will, therefore, answer strategically important questions for the office, including assessing the Gender Equality Marker’s impact and analyzing corporate volunteerism. Your insights will directly support gender equality initiatives.
- Conduct Strategic Coordination Reviews: You’ll thoroughly review UN Women ROAS’s operational and normative coordination results within the current Strategic Note. Following this, you’ll pinpoint gaps and opportunities to strengthen coordination, aligning with the UN Gender Equality Acceleration Plan and UN80 process. This is vital for advancing gender equity across the region as a consultant on gender equality.
- Develop Innovative Frameworks: Design cutting-edge indicator frameworks, monitoring plans, and methodological notes. These will, therefore, be instrumental in facilitating gender-responsive measurement and reporting, especially for UN Women’s coordination, normative mandates, and private sector engagement.
- Build Capacity: You’ll create and deliver trainings, research, and analyses. This, consequently, boosts capacities for gender-responsive planning, monitoring, and reporting among UN Women staff (ROAS and Country Offices), UNCTs, and Gender Theme Groups in the Arab States region. Your expertise as a Gender Equality Consultant will be key here.
- Ensure Quality Reporting: Lead the coordination and quality assurance of ROAS’s corporate reporting (mid-year and annual). You’ll thus ensure the development of high-quality annual reports that accurately measure indicators against methodological notes for gender equality outcomes.
