Yoma Ecosystem Consultant – UNICEF (Remote)
Organization: UNICEF, Generation Unlimited (YPA) Secretariat Location: Remote (Home/Office Based) Job Type: Consultant Duration: Approximately 4 months (August 2025 – December 2025). At UNICEF, we believe every child deserves a future. Consequently, we are seeking a Yoma Ecosystem Consultant to join the Generation Unlimited team. This is a unique opportunity to provide your expertise. For example, you will help implement Yoma, our global platform. This platform connects youth to learning and livelihood opportunities. Therefore, this remote consultancy requires you to create a seamless pipeline. It runs from skilling to sustainable livelihoods for young people. Thus, this work will be in two countries in Africa and Asia.
The Role: Your Impact as a Yoma Ecosystem Consultant
You will work under the guidance of the Innovation Manager. Your work will directly support local country offices. Together, you will deploy the Yoma platform. The Yoma platform helps young people build a verifiable digital identity. Credentials are given for every skill and experience. Your main goal, therefore, is to create integrated youth-development ecosystems. You will align opportunities across the platform. In addition, you will strengthen partner and youth capacity for sustained growth.
Key Responsibilities for this Consultancy Position
- Ecosystem and Stakeholder Mapping: You will, first and foremost, map key actors. This includes government, private-sector, NGO, and educational organizations. Furthermore, you will analyze policy, regulatory, and technology landscapes. These landscapes are relevant to digital identity and youth employment.
- Design and Scoping: In addition, you will plan and facilitate multi-day design workshops. This will refine user personas and platform requirements. You will then produce comprehensive scoping documents. These documents will identify which Yoma components need localization.
- Playbook and Governance: You will, moreover, create a practical onboarding guide for partners. This guide will also incorporate guidelines for integrating GenU’s Green Rising content. To this end, you will also compile a list of appropriate stakeholders. Subsequently, you will draft a Terms of Reference for a multi-stakeholder Steering Committee.
- Platform Localisation and Pilot Launch: Specifically, you will configure a sandbox instance of Yoma. You will integrate a locally relevant rewards mechanism. Moreover, you will oversee user-acceptance testing. You will curate at least three opportunity streams for the pilot launch.
- Performance and Impact Delivery: You will, in essence, achieve key performance indicators. This includes onboarding 15 partners, issuing 1,000 YoIDs, and recording 1,500 verifiable credentials. Ultimately, you will conduct four partner-training bootcamps. This will ensure sustained local ownership.
- Sustainability and Reporting: Finally, you will draft a costed three-year expansion plan. Also, you will secure preliminary funding commitments. You will submit a final close-out report with all documentation transferred to UNICEF and its partners.
Who We’re Looking For: Qualifications for a Yoma Platform Expert
To qualify for this consultancy, you must have 7 or more years of experience. This experience should be in leading cross-sector, youth-focused innovation in NGOs and development agencies.
We are looking for someone with:
- Expertise: Extensive program management expertise in Africa and the Caribbean. A strong track record in ecosystem building, stakeholder alignment, and impact-driven innovation is also necessary.
- Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with relevant technologies. This includes digital public goods, digital public infrastructure, blockchain, the use of tokens, and digital identity systems.
- Education: A degree in Business, Design, Technology, or a related field.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required. You must have strong written and verbal competency. A working knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
