Project Coordinator | UNIDO (Remote, P3)


The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), a specialized UN agency, is hiring a Project Coordinator (P3) to manage two critical projects aimed at promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Iraq. This international consultant position will directly contribute to UNIDO’s mission of reducing poverty and fostering environmental sustainability through industrial development.

About the Role


Working under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, you will serve as the International Project Coordinator. You will primarily oversee key duties related to project implementation, coordination, and reporting. Consequently, this role ensures the successful execution of projects that align with UNIDO’s strategic priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Project Context


This role will manage two impactful projects focused on providing essential support to vulnerable populations in Iraq. Specifically, you will coordinate:

  • Digital Technology Skills: A project aimed at increasing access to digital literacy and skills for Iraqi youth, particularly young women, to improve employability in the digital economy.
  • Emergency Livelihood Support: An initiative that enhances entrepreneurship among internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host community members by providing training and essential equipment to help them start their own businesses.

Key Responsibilities for UNIDO Project Coordinator


You will drive project coordination and implementation across the entire project lifecycle. For instance, you will:

  • Project Management: Advise the Project Manager on work plans and budgets, and coordinate the execution of all project activities. In addition, you will supervise the national project team.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: You will monitor project activities and prepare detailed reports for donors and UNIDO, including progress and final reports. Furthermore, you will identify lessons learned and propose improvements to project mechanisms.
  • External Relations: You will serve as the projects’ focal point at the international level. You will establish relations with local authorities and partners and present project progress to donors. Moreover, you will oversee the dissemination of project knowledge through best practices and success stories.

Qualifications


  • Education: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in economics, environment, business administration, or a related field is required. Candidates with a first-level degree and significant professional experience may also qualify.
  • Experience: You must have a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in project implementation for technical cooperation or development programs at the international level. Furthermore, experience in managing projects in post-conflict regions and in Iraq is desirable.
  • Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is desirable.
