UNICEF seeks a highly motivated, experienced Knowledge Management and Advocacy Consultant. This remote, one-year consultancy begins July 15, 2025, in the USA. Specifically, you will contribute to the UNFPA-UNICEF Joint Programme, which works to eliminate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Key Responsibilities for this Knowledge Management Consultant

  • Communications & Advocacy: You will lead planning and implement FGM Joint Programme communications. For instance, this includes creating social media content and supporting high-level events. These events notably include the UN General Assembly, Commission on the Status of Women, and International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM.
  • Knowledge Dissemination: You will compile and widely disseminate the latest research on child marriage and FGM via newsletters. Furthermore, you will develop cross-learning webinars and platforms. Moreover, you will amplify human-interest stories from country offices.
  • Evidence & Policy: You will develop summaries, fact sheets, and reports from existing evidence. Additionally, you will collate quantitative and qualitative FGM research. In essence, you will support UNICEF’s secretariat function for the FGM Donor Working Group. Your work as a UNICEF consultant in this area directly influences policy.

Qualifications for the Advocacy Consultant Role

  • Education: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or higher. Relevant fields include, for example, international development, public health, social science, or communications.
  • Experience: You need a minimum of two years of professional experience in knowledge management, advocacy, and communications. Crucially, you must have experience focusing on harmful practices and child protection. Conversely, experience in FGM programming or project development within a UN agency is a strong asset for this consultant position.
  • Language: Fluency in English is essential. However, knowledge of another official UN language offers an advantage.
