Consultant: Scaling Oxygen Access | UNICEF (Remote)
UNICEF is seeking a Consultant to support its global efforts in scaling oxygen access to low- and middle-income countries. This is a unique opportunity to apply your public health expertise to a life-saving mission. Furthermore, this remote consultancy offers a one-year contract, providing crucial support from September 2025 to August 2026.
About the Role
UNICEF has significantly increased its support for oxygen access in over 100 countries, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, UNICEF will focus on finishing critical activities in about 45 countries for 2025 and 2026. Therefore, you, as a UNICEF Consultant, will provide technical assistance to country offices and collaborate with partners to advance cross-cutting efforts in oxygen access.

Remote Consultant
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Child Health Specialist, you will support these key activities:
- Technical & Country Support: You will provide remote and on-site technical support to approximately 40 countries. In addition, you will support the integration of oxygen into existing health systems and help develop oxygen strategies and roadmaps at the policy and implementation levels.
- Global Coordination & Partnership: You will convene UNICEF’s global and regional oxygen technical teams to monitor progress and identify bottlenecks. Moreover, you will participate in the country implementation working group of the Global Oxygen Alliance.
- Resource Mobilization & Reporting: You will support ongoing resource mobilization efforts by providing input on concept notes and country proposals. Finally, you will help with ongoing work around essential MNCH commodities like Amoxicillin and ORS/ZN.
Qualifications
- Education: You must have an advanced university degree (Master’s or MD) in Public Health, Medicine, Global/International Health, or a related field. On the other hand, a PhD will be a valuable asset.
- Experience: You must have at least 8 years of professional experience in Public Health, with a focus on strategy, planning, and implementation of MNCH programming. Experience in low- and middle-income countries is preferred.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, is a plus.
