Your Opportunity as Senior Director Heifer USA
Are you a visionary leader passionate about transforming the US food system? If so, Heifer International is actively seeking an inspiring and action-oriented Senior Director Heifer USA. In this pivotal role, you’ll spearhead the advancement of regenerative agriculture across the United States, building a powerful movement rooted in equity, ecological health, and economic resilience.
Specifically, you’ll work hand-in-hand with farmers and agricultural organizations, developing innovative programs that challenge the status quo and champion alternative approaches to food production. Location: Remote (Candidates in the Southeast US are highly preferred, with frequent travel to Heifer Ranch in Perryville, AR required.)
Salary: $135,000 – $150,000 annually (Placement will be based on experience and qualifications.)

Senior Country Director, Heifer USA (HUSA)
What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities for a Senior Director Heifer USA
As the Strategic and Operational Lead for our US operations, you’ll inspire a high-performing team, forge crucial partnerships, and amplify the impact of sustainable farming practices. This Senior Director Heifer USA role is vital for our mission.
Driving Strategic Program Leadership: A Focus for Heifer USA’s Senior Director (30%)
- Drive the strategic vision and implementation of Heifer’s mission and goals, actively aligning with regional priorities.
- Cultivate and lead multi-stakeholder coalitions, including farmers, nonprofits, universities, funders, and values-aligned businesses.

- Ensure operational excellence, adaptive learning, and quality delivery across all signature programs.
- Develop strategic and operational plans in close coordination with Heifer USA Leadership.
- Oversee program quality and impact, constantly striving for inclusive and just food systems.
- Manage budgets for maintenance and capital expenditures for Heifer USA, proactively ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
- Guide resource allocation, team performance, and governance within a dynamic program environment for this Senior Director Heifer USA role.
Business Development & Strategy for Heifer USA Growth (20%)
- Crucially, secure diverse funding and strategic partnerships, encompassing philanthropic, corporate, and impact investment streams for Heifer USA.

- Shape Heifer’s national advocacy strategy for regenerative systems and farmer justice.
- Lastly, represent Heifer USA in international forums, coalitions, and learning networks.
What You’ll Bring: Qualifications for a Senior Director Heifer USA
Minimum Requirements for this Heifer USA Leadership Role:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agroecology, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Non-profit Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience, preferably within regenerative agriculture, sustainable development, or ecosystem innovation.
- Importantly, a minimum of seven years in a leadership role overseeing a department or team.
- Moreover, demonstrated success in strategy development and execution, team leadership, and change management.
- In particular, a proven track record of securing significant funding from institutional donors (bilateral, multilateral, private funders) and corporate partnerships for initiatives in the USA.
