Prospect Research Analyst: Job Summary
The Prospect Research Analyst reports to the Senior Director of Fundraising Operations. You will be responsible for using a variety of sources to determine a prospect’s giving potential based on their assets, philanthropic interests, and historical giving. The Analyst responds to fundraising research requests from all fundraising teams as well as the Office of the President.
Key Responsibilities for the Research Analyst
- Prospect Research & Fundraiser Support
- Conduct research on current and prospective wealthy individuals, with a primary focus on Principal and Major Gifts audiences. You will also have an awareness of Mid-Level, Planned Giving, Corporations, and Foundations.
- Evaluate information from various sources to determine a prospect’s financial capacity, giving propensity, philanthropic interests, and relationship to CARE.
- Perform corporate due diligence and risk assessments for U.S. and International CARE offices.
- Respond to fundraiser research requests in a timely manner.
- Support the Senior Research Analyst in reviewing the daily gift log to identify donors ready to move to another channel.
- Data Entry/Data Integrity
- Input research findings and activity into CRM systems, ensuring established operational processes are followed.
- Special Projects
- Support and sometimes cover for other research positions during times of high volume. You will also do special projects as requested by the Senior Director of Fundraising Operations.

Remote Research Analyst
Required Qualifications for the Prospect Research Analyst
- As a prospect research analyst, you must have an Associate or Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of prospect research experience.
- Experience using CRM systems, iWave, LexisNexis, and/or other prospect research software.
- Excellent written communication skills and a clear, concise writing style.
- An aptitude for research methods and experience with computers and relational databases.
- The ability to follow ethical standards and use discretion with sensitive and confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications for the Research Analyst
- One or more years of relevant prospect research experience in a large nonprofit or higher education setting.
- Experience using Salesforce and/or NPSP.
Pay Details
The annual pay range for this full-time position is $61,846.14 – $86,275.36. Starting salaries are based on factors like experience, education, skills, and the cost of labor where the job is based.
