Renewable Energy Advisor (Remote, US)
The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is seeking a strategic and experienced Renewable Energy Advisor US to join its North America climate mitigation program. This remote, home-based position is for a seasoned professional who can provide strategic advice on renewable energy deployment and help achieve the goals of TNC’s North America Renewable Energy Deployment Strategy. The ideal candidate will be a technical and program expert, capable of leading workstreams and engaging with a diverse range of partners to drive impactful change.
This role is critical for advancing the Conservancy’s climate mitigation mission. By providing leadership on renewable energy tools, practices, and demonstration projects, this energy advisor will help scale solutions that benefit climate, conservation, and communities. The work is accomplished primarily through collaboration with TNC’s state business units and interaction with U.S. state and federal agencies, partner organizations, and the corporate sector.
About the Renewable Energy Advisor Position
Reporting to the North America climate mitigation program lead, this renewable energy specialist provides technical and program support to Conservancy field operations. The position supports the development and implementation of projects to meet strategy goals and advances renewable energy development practices, tools, and demonstration projects to meet 3C (climate, conservation, and community) objectives.

Remote Renewable Energy Advisor
Key Tasks for this Strategic Advisor
- Lead priority workstreams within the Renewable Energy Deployment Strategy, ensuring coordination and alignment with program goals.
- Oversee project management and collaborate with cross-functional staff on work plans, budget management, and communications to ensure program accountability.
- Provide advice and support to TNC’s state business units and divisions on renewable energy deployment practices.
- Develop and implement demonstration projects and practices that meet climate, conservation, and community (3C) objectives.
- Support the development of innovative scientific methods and analysis to inform solutions.
- Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, corporations, and other organizations to advance policy goals.
- Ensure program compliance with internal policies and external requirements.
Qualifications and Experience for a Renewable Energy Advisor

Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS degree and at least 7 years of experience in conservation practice or a related field.
- Experience managing complex, multiple projects, including coordinating the work of others and managing budgets.
- A background in partnership development with non-profit partners, community groups, and/or government agencies.
- Proven fundraising and negotiation experience.
- Supervisory experience, including motivating and leading teams.
Desired Qualifications
- 7-10 years of experience in conservation practice or a similar field.
- Extensive experience working with current renewable energy trends and practices.
- An ability to apply scientific concepts and technical innovations to conservation purposes.
- Knowledge of methods and standards for biodiversity information systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
- Politically savvy with experience working with key legislators and government officials.
This is a full-time, remote position. The starting pay range for a candidate in the USA is generally between $85,200 and $120,615, based on factors such as location, qualifications, and experience.
