The Collaborative for Gender + Reproductive Equity (CGRE) actively seeks a dedicated Program Associate. This pivotal remote role ensures the effective implementation of programmatic and grantmaking strategies. Indeed, this position directly advances gender, reproductive, and racial equity across the United States. While not a direct grantmaking role, this Program Associate, nevertheless, supports both CGRE and GEAF grantmaking. Therefore, the role proves critical for team functioning, grantmaking processes, and data tracking.

CGRE cultivates new donors and raises funds for impactful state-focused investments. Furthermore, it provides funding to unite advocates, defend equity, and build a future where every person thrives. The organization, along with its aligned 501(c)(4) Gender Equity Action Fund (GEAF), operates fully virtually. Consequently, the Program Associate also represents CGRE and GEAF at external meetings and workshops. This, in effect, makes the position key for a detail-oriented, collaborative professional.


Program Associate: Key Responsibilities of the Role

Grantmaking & Program Support

  • Grantmaking Team Administration: Work closely with the Chief of Programs. Focus on all administrative aspects supporting the smooth functioning of the grantmaking team and processes.
  • Cross-Organizational Coordination: Coordinate work across CGRE and GEAF for the program team. Specifically, collaborate with grants management, operations, and development teams.
  • Funder/Grantee Communication: Manage communication and engagement with fiscal sponsors and teammates. Track and manage grantee proposals and reports.
  • Logistics & Project Management: Manage program team logistics. This includes, for example, scheduling program team meetings, tracking tasks and follow-ups. Also, serve as project manager on team-wide projects and deliverables.
  • Budget & Contract Oversight: Work closely with the Chief of Programs to manage programmatic budget, external consultants, and contracts. This also involves, conversely, collaborating with consultants and fiscal sponsors to execute contracts and process invoices.

Grantee Engagement & Data Management

  • Convening Assistance: Assist with virtual and in-person grantee convenings, learning sessions, and yearly “all grantee” briefing calls. This entails, for instance, managing meeting and travel logistics, scheduling, and working with consultants.
  • Impact Monitoring: Collect grantee impact and progress stories. Additionally, maintain a system for monitoring programmatic goals and outcomes.
  • Program Materials Maintenance: Maintain and update program-related materials including landscape assessments, state roadmaps, and profiles. Crucially, engage with the program team. Stay abreast of changing dynamics in priority states and emerging threats/opportunities.
  • Opportunity Fund Leadership: Lead relationships with Opportunity Fund grantees. Furthermore, participate in proposal review. Contribute recommendations for new partnerships.

Representation & Team Contribution

  • External Representation: Represent CGRE and GEAF in briefings, meetings, and webinars with grantee partners. Report back key findings.
  • Material Development: Support the development of written and visual materials for Advisory Committee and Advisory Board meetings. Specifically, help with funding recommendations and impact summaries.
  • Team Collaboration: Be an active, collaborative, and supportive member of the 10-person CGRE + GEAF team. Help practice organizational values. Advance organizational priorities.
  • Backup Support: Provide back-up support for other Associates as needed.

Program Associate: Essential Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills

  • Social Change Experience: Candidates need at least 3 years’ relevant experience. Work in social change, reproductive rights, gender justice, or racial justice movements is essential.
  • Equity Commitment: Demonstrate deep commitment to reproductive, gender, and racial equity. Furthermore, show experience incorporating a social justice lens into program strategies and practices.
  • Service Mindset: Possess a service-oriented mindset. Understand challenges faced by grantee partners.
  • Project Management: Exhibit daily program/project management experience across remote teams. In addition, display highly effective prioritization and organizational skills. This allows independent management of multiple tasks and projects in a deadline-continuous environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain superlative attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Possess strong written and verbal communications; practice providing syntheses of issue-specific meetings, webinars, and workshops.
  • Relationship Building: Demonstrate the ability to build trusting and caring relationships.
  • Technical Proficiency: Show proficiency with Google Suite. Quickly adapt to new systems and technology platforms.
  • Nonprofit Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations is required.

Compensation and Benefits for this Program Associate Role

The salary range for this Program Associate position is $65,000-$80,000 per year. Notably, this range is one component of the total compensation package.

The Program Associate works on behalf of GEAF. However, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA), CGRE’s fiscal sponsor, serves as the hiring entity and employer. RPA offers a competitive benefits package. This includes, for example, health, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) with up to a 9% employer contribution; four weeks of vacation; and unlimited sick time. Furthermore, employees must work remotely within the US. They must also utilize virtual office tools, including technology to support remote work. Work laptops and phones are provided. IT support, work-related upgrades, and web applications are also provided as needed.

This is a US-based role, reporting to the Chief of Programs, who is based on the west coast. Consequently, qualified candidates from across the US are encouraged to apply, as the position is fully virtual.
