Are you an expert in gender equality with a passion for the power of sports? The United Nations is seeking a Policy Advisor UN Women, Sport Partnerships to lead the implementation of UN Women’s Global Sports Strategy. To begin with, you will help transform global norms, build new narratives, and forge powerful collaborations to advance gender equality for women and girls everywhere.

What You Will Do as Policy Advisor UN Women

  • Lead Strategy & Policy: You will lead the implementation of UN Women’s Global Sports Strategy. Subsequently, this includes developing strategic approaches for policy dialogue, advocacy, and partnerships. You’ll analyze data, create policy proposals, and provide essential guidance to UN Women’s regional and country offices.
  • Represent & Influence: In addition, you will represent UN Women at key international, inter-agency, and intergovernmental forums. You will prepare policy papers, reports, and analytical summaries for bodies like the Commission on the Status of Women and the General Assembly to shape global norms and standards.
  • Drive Advocacy & Communication: Moreover, you will develop and implement a communication strategy for the Global Sports Strategy. You will also leverage partners’ events and media to amplify UN Women’s messaging, working closely with the global communication team.
  • Generate Knowledge: Consequently, you will contribute to knowledge management and staff capacity development. This includes creating and leading global communities of practice, producing knowledge products, and engaging with experts and networks outside the organization to promote learning and innovation.
  • Build Partnerships: Furthermore, you will manage and expand strategic partnerships with sports organizations, industry leaders, governments, and civil society. A key part of your role will be to mobilize resources to support gender equality movements and create opportunities for girls through sports programs.

Who We Are Looking For

We need a candidate with a strong background in gender equality and a deep understanding of the sports world.

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in gender studies, human rights, international relations, or a related social science field is required. A bachelor’s degree with two additional years of experience is also accepted.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in designing and managing programs and advocating for gender equality, preferably with experience in developing countries.
  • Proven experience in policy analysis, strategic planning, and building partnerships with governments, donors, and civil society.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent knowledge of sports and gender equality.
  • Strong networking, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to advocate and provide policy advice.
  • Proficiency in English is a must; knowledge of another UN official language is a plus.
