National Consultant: Ending Violence Against Women (Home-Based, Remote)

UN Women, a leading organization promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment worldwide, seeks a highly driven and experienced National Consultant EVAW Thailand. This important home-based role will provide direct technical support to the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC) Thailand. We particularly focus on ending violence against women, especially for women migrant workers.

Why This National Consultant Role Matters for EVAW in Thailand

Violence against women constitutes a widespread violation of human rights. In fact, it affects about one in three women globally. Similarly, we see comparable rates across the Asia-Pacific region. This National Consultant opportunity, therefore, presents a truly unique chance to help build a comprehensive, evidence-based approach. Our main goal is to prevent violence, protect survivors, and hold offenders accountable.

Furthermore, you will play a crucial part in the EU-funded “PROTECT: Protection of the Rights of Women and Children in Labour Migration” initiative. You will strengthen regional and national abilities to tackle violence against women and children, human trafficking, and migrant smuggling. Your work will directly support the creation and use of key frameworks and plans within ASEAN, specifically focusing on women migrant workers and efforts to end VAW in Thailand. As a consultant for ending violence against women in Thailand, your contributions will be significant.

Key Responsibilities of This EVAW Consultant

As the National Consultant EVAW Thailand, you will handle several important tasks:

  • Lead ASEAN Coordination on EVAW Initiatives: First and foremost, you will ensure close coordination with ASEAN on initiatives to end violence against women (EVAW). A key part of this involves developing the upcoming 10-year Regional Plan of Action on EVAW (RPA on EVAW 2026-2035). You will coordinate the RPA, offer technical help to ACWC Thailand by analyzing data, and also assist with policy research.
  • Support Key Meetings and Discussions for EVAW: Beyond coordination, you will prepare, run, and document important meetings and discussions with ASEAN partners. This specifically includes drafting concept notes, agendas, talking points, meeting minutes, and presentations. You will also provide logistical and administrative support.
  • Coordinate EVAW Campaigns: Furthermore, you will lead and coordinate the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign. In addition, you will work on other related efforts for both ASEAN and ACWC. Your tasks will include reviewing communication materials, organizing advocacy events, and supporting media and digital efforts.
  • Manage Knowledge and Outreach for EVAW: Finally, you will help develop and share knowledge resources, such as policy briefs and research. You will also assist in planning capacity-building activities and workshops. This is a key area for any National Consultant EVAW Thailand.

Consultant’s Workplace and Travel

This is a home-based consultancy. However, you may need to work sometimes at UN Women premises. If official travel is required for this National Consultant EVAW Thailand role, UN Women will arrange it and cover costs based on UN Women’s travel policy.
