Remote USA Media Coordinator
Why This Role Matters: Your Impact in Animal Welfare Media
AWI needs a Media Coordinator Animal Welfare specialist to manage our public media presence. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Strategic Communications, you’ll develop social media, press releases, and pitches. Crucially, you’ll also guide these materials through approval processes. Therefore, this role ideally suits a detail-oriented problem-solver who adeptly manages multiple projects, consistently meets deadlines, and writes effectively. Moreover, you must be creative, communicative, organized, and passionate about preventing animal suffering. - Possess three years of experience in communications, media relations, or social media management.

What You’ll Be Doing: Core Media Coordinator Responsibilities
Social Media Management for Animal Welfare
- First, you will collaborate with staff to develop content ideas and then translate them into impactful social media posts.
- Next, you will coordinate with the graphic designer on visuals.
- Subsequently, you will oversee content review and thus ensure timely approvals.
- Following approval, you will publish content.
- Finally, you will perform general account maintenance.
Press Relations & Media Outreach for Animal Advocacy
- Initially, you will draft press releases, op-eds, and statements relevant to animal welfare.
- After creation, you will manage content review and ensure approvals.
- Thereafter, you will pitch content to media via direct outreach and MuckRack.
- Concurrently, you will promptly respond to inquiries, arrange interviews, and build media relationships.
Data Organization & Reporting for Animal Welfare Communications
- Crucially, you will measure and report social media metrics and then analyze data for strategy.
- Additionally, you will maintain media lists.
- Furthermore, you will coordinate media monitoring and prepare board reports for our animal welfare efforts.
Other Communications Support
- You will respond to information requests.
