Ultimately, the organization seeks a Program Officer Training expert to join its headquarters Resettlement Team in New York. This position supports the quality of Preferred Communities (PC) program delivery. In essence, it ensures local staff and partners have the knowledge and skills for high-quality service.

 

Job Overview for the Program Officer Training Role


This Program Officer, Training position sits within the IRC headquarters Resettlement Team. The role’s primary responsibilities focus on training and technical assistance. In fact, this work enhances Preferred Communities (PC) program activities, which receive funding from the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). In concert with the HQ PC team and the Director for PC, the Program Officer Training expert implements IRC’s ICM training program. The program specifically builds local staff and partner knowledge and capacity. Therefore, this position partners with local IRC field offices to ensure staff have the knowledge and skills for quality service delivery. For example, the Program Officer, Training reports to the Director of Preferred Communities. This role operates within the Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration Department in the US.

Key Responsibilities for a Training Program Officer

 


The Training Program Officer performs the following responsibilities:

  • Training & Development: The officer updates the IRC headquarters training plan for staff. Specifically, this includes webinars, communities of practice, and in-person training. Furthermore, the officer manages and designs e-learning modules. This person provides additional interactive training.
  • Resource Management: The officer manages the ICM intranet pages (RescueNet). Accordingly, this ensures field resources are easy to locate and up to date. In addition, this role tracks PC training activities and updates associated protocols.
  • Reporting & Collaboration: The officer writes clear, concise activity reports for the funder. Similarly, the officer coordinates with the Program Manager and other HQ PC team members. As a result, this manages logistics and budgets for meetings and trainings. Consequently, the officer adjusts training content based on an analysis of monitoring findings.

 

Candidate Requirements for an IRC Program Officer


  • Experience: Candidates need a minimum of three years of relevant experience. In particular, this includes work in the U.S. refugee program. Experience with the Afghan emergency response is a plus.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in Social Work, International Affairs, or a related field is a plus.
  • Skills: This position requires a diverse skill set. In short, this includes training, monitoring, and strong communication skills. Furthermore, candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. They also need an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications. Candidates should also have strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Work Environment: The role operates in a standard office environment. Additionally, it requires up to 30% domestic travel as needed.
