Founding Senior Engineer

Revenue Vessel is looking for a Founding Senior Engineer. If you are a professional who thrives in a busy, high-impact role, and you want to build new solutions that directly help a company succeed, we encourage you to apply.

We are a growing software company, supported by investors, aiming to change how shipping and logistics companies sell their services. In just over a year, we have created a product that our customers truly value. What’s more, our income has grown a lot (it doubled in the last three months!), and we are on track to make over $1.8M in sales this coming year. Importantly, we manage our money well, spending only as much as we earn.

Other logistics software often misses the mark. But we found a key secret: all logistics teams sell in a very similar way, yet they don’t have good tools. This understanding helps us build unique and very useful solutions.

Our three founders bring strong experience, with past roles like Head of Demand Generation at Flexport, a top SDR Manager at Flexport, and Head of Engineering at Rutter API. Indeed, this business has the chance to become a billion-dollar company, and we need your skills to make it happen.

Your Role as a Founding Senior Engineer at Revenue Vessel

As the fourth engineer on our team of startup experts, you will be a senior technical leader with a lot of responsibility. Because of this, you will play a key part in shaping our product, influencing our company culture, and helping us grow. We need engineers who can work on all parts of our software, but, we have two main areas where your skills as a Founding Senior Engineer would be especially helpful:

  • Backend & Data Expert: You will help build the core data systems. These systems are vital for keeping track of all customer information in this industry. If you love working with backend systems and data challenges, then this job is a good fit for you.
  • Customer-Focused Product Builder: You will be excellent at understanding what customers need, planning what to build, and then writing code fast.

This Job is a Great Fit for a Founding Senior Engineer Who:

  • Wants to work with smart, honest, and growth-minded co-workers.
  • Likes to work on their own and quickly, taking full ownership of features and systems.
  • Is an engineer who cares most about solving customer problems.
  • Thrives in a fast-moving startup, like “building a plane while flying it.”

This Senior Engineering Job Might Not Be Right If:

  • You are looking for an easy, stable job like those at a large tech company.
  • You prefer very structured workplaces with many rules.
  • You are worried about taking personal risks.
  • You want to become an engineering manager in the next two years.

How to Succeed as a Founding Senior Engineer Here:

To do well in this role, you will need to:

  • Be the kind of person who faces problems directly, even if you haven’t seen them before.
  • Learn fast and teach yourself new things when needed.
  • Know our tech stack: TypeScript, Next.JS, TypeORM, React, Postgres, Heroku.
  • Have strong skills in full-stack web development (both front and back-end) and data work, and be excellent at one of these.
  • Write good code fast and know when speed is more important than being perfect, and when it’s the other way around.
  • Communicate very well and always share updates on your work and what’s most important.

For example, a typical week could involve building a new feature, making the product perfect for a great customer experience, and growing our systems as more users join.

Our Core Company Values:

  • Sharp Focus: We do one thing at a time, and we do it very well. Right now, our only focus is building sales tools for logistics companies. Because of this, we say no to all other chances, even if they look very tempting.
  • High Honesty: We believe that being honest in business is extremely important. In fact, we would rather lose some money than not do right by a customer or a potential client.
  • Always Improving: We want to make our business and ourselves 1% better every single day. So, as we earn more, we plan to put most of it back into making our team and our work processes even better. We give and get honest, helpful feedback to help everyone grow.
  • Building for Profit: We believe that, in the end, what truly matters is how much money comes in versus how much goes out.

What We Offer Our Senior Engineers:

  • A fully remote work environment with flexible hours.
  • Very generous company ownership (we want you to feel deeply invested in our success and to benefit greatly from it).
  • Good cash pay.
  • For our US team: Top-tier health insurance, dental coverage, and optional life insurance and therapy services through Talkspace.
