Job Overview
Finance Manager, Boston, United States (Hybrid/Remote Options)
Are you an experienced Finance Manager with a profound passion for environmental conservation? Do you thrive in a strategic role where your financial expertise directly supports a mission that protects our planet’s most vital natural resources? The Nature Conservancy (TNC) cordially invites you to join our team in Massachusetts. We’re actively looking for a dynamic financial leader to guide our regional operations and help us achieve ambitious conservation goals. If you’re ready to make a tangible and lasting impact as a Finance Manager, we wholeheartedly encourage you to explore this exceptional opportunity.
What You’ll Achieve with Us as a Finance Manager
You’ll report directly to the State Director, with a dotted line to the Northeast Division Finance Director, and serve as a pivotal member of the Massachusetts Leadership Team. As Finance Manager, you’ll lead crucial financial services for the Massachusetts Business Unit. Specifically, this includes comprehensive financial management, detailed reporting and analysis, and thorough financial data maintenance. You’ll analyze information to drive results, solve complex problems, and consistently act as a strategic partner, advising on resource investment for our conservation objectives. Furthermore, you’ll collaborate closely with our Development team to manage vital funding priorities.
Working hand-in-hand with the State Director, Chapter’s Leadership Team, and program managers, you’ll develop, monitor, manage, and report on the $10.2 million annual operating budget, capital projects, and multi-year sustainability models. Consequently, you’ll manage the Business Unit’s entire budget lifecycle, from leading annual budget development and forecasting future financials to ensuring efficient, clean year-end closings. This is a core responsibility for our next financial manager.
As our Finance Manager, you’ll also ensure stringent financial compliance with TNC policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements. Indeed, this involves carefully reviewing document accuracy and entering transactions as needed. Therefore, you’ll drive corrective measures and ensure consistency with corporate policies. Occasional travel is, moreover, required for this role.
This position handles highly confidential duties and requires broad, comprehensive knowledge of The Conservancy’s policies. Furthermore, you’ll collaborate closely with Finance, Accounting, Grants, and Operations staff across other chapters, divisions, and even global offices, serving as a key financial leader.
This is a full-time, hybrid position. Ideally, you’ll be located in Massachusetts (with regular, as-needed travel to our Boston office). However, we will definitely consider remote candidates who can commit to regular travel to Massachusetts.
