Your Role as a Crisis Specialist for FAO in RS:

To clarify, your work aims to qualify and expand public policies for family farming in Rio Grande do Sul, particularly considering the profound impacts of the 2024 floods. Key Responsibilities for this Crisis Specialist Role:

  • Conduct thorough surveys and documentary analysis on SAF’s recovery actions for family farming in RS, specifically focusing on post-2024 flood policies and extraordinary credit.
  • Map key information flows between SAF, MDA Superintendence in RS, and policy beneficiaries, identifying communication gaps and access challenges for emergency measures.
  • Develop strategic support tools, including methodologies and instruments, to facilitate clear and effective communication of public policies to settlers and affected family farmers.
  • Prepare essential support and guidance materials, such as a didactic booklet for beneficiaries detailing emergency measures, access criteria, and practical extraordinary credit guidelines.
  • Propose and plan dissemination and evaluation actions, encompassing an external communication plan and a monitoring proposal for SAF actions’ effectiveness in the state, with a focus on production resumption.

Essential Qualifications for a Crisis Specialist:

  • You must hold a University Degree in Applied Social Sciences, as per the CAPES/CNPq table of knowledge areas.
  • Bring a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in:
    • Public communication of policies, programs, or institutional actions.
    • Social mobilization in rural and socio-environmental contexts.
    • Technical or institutional advice within public agencies, civil society organizations, or social movements.
    • Production of diagnoses, systematizations, or strategic materials on public policies, crisis management, or rural and territorial development.
  • You must have a working knowledge of both English and Portuguese.
  • Candidates should be nationals of Brazil or hold a valid work permit for the country.
