Your Opportunity as an Associate Director Major Giving West

As an Associate Director Major Giving West, you’ll collaborate closely with the Senior Director of USA Philanthropy West and the Director of Major Giving West. Together, you will develop strategies to grow a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals. With a geographic focus on the Western United States, you’ll serve as a primary relationship manager throughout the donor lifecycle. This, of course, includes working across fundraising teams and with senior leadership. You’ll qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward five and six-figure gifts, always employing donor-centric fundraising practices. Furthermore, this major giving leadership position ultimately aims to build a robust donor pipeline and significantly increase regional revenue.

This Associate Director Major Giving West role requires a dynamic approach to fundraising. Your key responsibilities will include:

 

Portfolio Management & Prospect Discovery

  • Manage a strategic portfolio of 75-100 high-net-worth individuals. Actively advance their relationship with the IRC through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Discover new prospects through relationship and network mapping. Effectively qualify these prospects using thorough research to uncover new donor relationships.

Donor Engagement & Strategy

  • Create impactful strategic correspondence. This notably includes solicitations, cultivation pieces, reports, and other stewardship materials. Your primary goal is to effectively engage donors and prospects.
  • Design creative, long-term engagement tactics. These will profoundly deepen donor dedication and consistently increase their giving over time.
  • Orchestrate and prepare strategy, briefing, and debriefing materials for face-to-face meetings and solicitations with major donors. These can be conducted personally or by senior staff and Board leadership.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise, manage, and coach two frontline fundraisers or support staff on the Major Giving West team. In essence, you’ll mentor these individuals and actively guide their professional growth at IRC and within the fundraising profession.
  • Collaborate across IRC teams, including institutional fundraising colleagues and field staff. This ensures clear alignment of donor and organizational priorities. As a direct result, income for the IRC will increase, and multi-layered, deep engagement with the organization will truly grow.
  • Work collaboratively with Account Managers to strategize, actively track, and rigorously measure progress. Focus, consequently, on financial goals and the movement of prospects and donors throughout the donor lifecycle.
  • Undertake special projects as requested by leadership.

Work Environment & Compensation

This position operates with a remote/flex-time arrangement. While the role is certainly open to relocation, preferred candidates are either based in, or willing to move to, the Bay Area, CA. Notably, frequent presence and visits there will be explicitly required due to the donor focus.

The compensation for this Associate Director Major Giving West role ranges from USD 120,000.00 – 133,900.00 Annually. Posted pay ranges specifically apply to U.S.-based candidates. These ranges, furthermore, consider various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.
