About Us
The Collaborative for Gender Reproductive Equity (CGRE) is a unique philanthropic community dedicated to advancing gender, reproductive, and racial equity. Essentially, CGRE brings together donors and foundations who are committed to creating a future where all individuals possess the resources and autonomy necessary to thrive. Therefore, their work is rooted in the belief that when women are empowered to shape their own lives, it fosters a healthier and more vibrant society for everyone.
To achieve this vision, CGRE employs a holistic approach, addressing the interconnected barriers women face. For example, this includes advocating for comprehensive sex education and access to abortion, advancing policies that build women’s economic power (like paid family leave and equitable protections for care workers), and supporting initiatives that promote women’s safety and security. Furthermore, they work to build political power for women at both state and national levels.
Crucially, CGRE prioritizes efforts led by and informed by those most impacted by structural inequities, including Black, Indigenous, and women of color, as well as transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals. Consequently, they strategically provide funding to unite advocates across various issue areas, fostering collaboration to defend against attacks on fundamental rights and accelerate progress. Ultimately, CGRE strives to amplify the impact of philanthropic giving by creating a learning space for funders and directing resources to organizations doing vital on-the-ground work.
